About
Louise Hampson uses line to create precise, absorbing drawings. In addition she is concerned with time, fault and perfection. Her laborious method deploys technical drawing pens on paper and translucent film. Consequently, resulting in a repetitive pattern using simple lines. The types of line are varied. Not only does she often uses a ruler to create a uniform, consistent line that evokes precision, but also she draws using small, freehand lines to create accumulating, flowing patterns.
Louise generally combines large surfaces and small marks. Therefore, there is a sense of mass and a larger image. Simultaneously, playing on micro/macro relations. Her work explores the potential of faults and errors in both hand-made and mechanised drawing. Louise investigates repeated action as a means of producing geometrical forms.
